- Is max operating range limited by rain, angle etc.?
- What is the distance limit above the water surface with the Stalker SVR?
- What distance from the water surface can the speed gun operate until?
- Is the sensor able to be mounted inside another polycarbonate or ABS enclosure so that it is vandal resistant
- The current requirement is listed at 0.45A at 12Vdc. Is this continuous or is it only at this current drain during a measurement
- What is the SDI12 output of Stalker SVR?
- Can the Surface Velocity Sensor and it’s components be submerged in sewer water for long periods of time?
- Does the Surface Velocity Sensor have any logic that corrects for when the Sensor is not pointing directly at the channel?
- Can you provide best setup for sensor parameters? Parameters are transmitted to sensor before each reading session. Readings will be taken every 15 minutes. Integration time can be up to 2 minutes, usually 1 minute. Sensor is powered down (OFF) between readings
- What is maximum distance from sensor to water? Smaller down angle reduces error but increases distance to water at a given height above water. What are your recommendations?
- Wall mount would require sensor to mount looking parallel to wall. How close can I mount sensor to wall without interference?
- Can you describe the field sensitivity levels e.g. level 1 is 25%, level 2 is 50%, etc.
- What is the averaged velocity (how many averages and is this for smoothing)?
- What is the cost?
- Can a user manual be provided to us before the unit arrives to give us some time to get familiar with the unit
- Can the unit be provided with an RS232 interface and the connector be a sealed CPC or equivalent
- Can the unit be programmed I may wish to change sensitivity, baud rate, etc
What distance from the water surface can the speed gun operate until?
100m while water speed runs faster than 1m/s
Back to IndexIs the sensor able to be mounted inside another polycarbonate or ABS enclosure so that it is vandal resistant
The sensor works find inside polycarbonate or ABS enclosure.
Back to IndexThe current requirement is listed at 0.45A at 12Vdc. Is this continuous or is it only at this current drain during a measurement
This is continuous during measurement.
Back to IndexCan the Surface Velocity Sensor and it’s components be submerged in sewer water for long periods of time?
SVR Sensor can be submerged in sewer water for long time, but only in deep of less than 0.5 meter.
Back to IndexDoes the Surface Velocity Sensor have any logic that corrects for when the Sensor is not pointing directly at the channel?
SVR Sensor can compensate for horizontal angle error when the Sensor is not pointing directly at the channel.
Back to IndexCan you provide best setup for sensor parameters? Parameters are transmitted to sensor before each reading session. Readings will be taken every 15 minutes. Integration time can be up to 2 minutes, usually 1 minute. Sensor is powered down (OFF) between readings
You don’t need transmt parameters to sensor before each reading session. you do it only once at your office using a PC (and a RS232-RS485 converter):
1.In Windows, setup HyperTerminal program connection for 9600 baud, no parity, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, no flow control, then…
2.Connect the sensor to 12 VDC, it shows the version number when power on:
Staler S3 SVR Ver:1.0.3
2. input command “s0” to stop streaming output
3. imput command “c” to get the current parameters:
SF001099 f2 s0 d0 r4 h00 v45 u2 w10
F=2;(ID-strength-currSpeed-currWindowAvgSpeed)
SF001099-2-00. 50-00.34o
S=0 or 2; “0”(question answer mode) is better if your logger has other sensors connected.
D=0; (auto-detect) for both incoming and outgoing tides measurements
R=4; (farthest range)
H=00;
V=30 to 70. (set to bigger vertical while you expect heavy rain)
u= 0 mph, 1 km/h, 2 m/s,3 ft/s
W=10 to 60 (10 seconds or more to get steady velocity readings)
The best parameters for your application:
SF001099 f2 s0 d0 r4 h00 v60 u2 w60
—–In every 15 minutes, your logger powers the sensor on, waits for 61 seconds or more, gets the averaged velocity and direction,than power the sensor off:
SF001099-1-21.01-18.50o
Back to IndexWhat is maximum distance from sensor to water? Smaller down angle reduces error but increases distance to water at a given height above water. What are your recommendations?
100 meter while water velocity is faster than 2m/s. 15 feet about water is good for 0.5 m/s or faster.
Back to IndexWall mount would require sensor to mount looking parallel to wall. How close can I mount sensor to wall without interference?
10cm or more
Back to IndexCan you describe the field sensitivity levels e.g. level 1 is 25%, level 2 is 50%, etc.

Back to IndexCan the unit be provided with an RS232 interface and the connector be a sealed CPC or equivalent
Can the unit be programmed I may wish to change sensitivity, baud rate, etc
Yes these settings can be changed in the field
